Slimming World: Maintaining

My life now is very different to what it was before Slimming World.

Before I joined Slimming World I used to eat out A LOT, drink A LOT and generally be a naughty person when it came to food.

Growing up my mum was always super healthy with me, but she worked full time so when I was given the freedom of buying my own food and eating out I didn’t choose well…

Slimming World taught me about how to eat and how to cook from scratch. It does take a little longer to prepare, I have to plan week by week what to eat but it’s well worth it.

Top: Chicken in peanut sauce with egg fried rice. Left: Mushroom, scrambled eggs, asparagus and salmon. Right: Heck sausage pasta with mushroom and spinach.

Without sounding like a complete weirdo I do sit down and write a menu for the week, it helps me keep on track and maintain my weight. Weekdays are strict, I always stick to plan (usually). Even though I’m a target member it doesn’t mean I can eat what I want, I allow myself treats now and then but generally I eat super healthy.

I do find that if you’re on a diet or are generally healthy everyone usually has an opinion on what you eat. Without fail I have a yummy salad for lunch – I love salads, I mix them up, make them super scrumptious, plus they fill me up!

However people constantly comment on what I eat. “You’ve got another salad”, and “you’re always so healthy”, let me tell you this is annoying! It also puts a huge amount of pressure on me if I don’t eat the chocolate cake or eat all the unhealthy things that are brought into the office. Sometimes I feel like I have to eat the crap just so everyone will leave me alone, but when I do everyone comments on the fact I’m eating something unhealthy! I can’t win, it’s so frustrating. Do you have this problem?

Really the only way I maintain is to plan. I’ve listed a few tips below which I would recommend:

  • Subscribing to the Slimming World magazine
  • Researching new recipe ideas online
  • Using the MyFitnessPal app
  • Exercising and mixing up your routine
  • Every Sunday night I plan my meals for the week and stick it on the fridge
  • Weighing regularly and keeping a log (either at Slimming World club or alone)
  • Having an amazing friend to text daily or weekly
  • Have one super healthy weekend a month
  • Options hot chocolate 🙂

It can be annoying which is why I allow myself some weekends off but as long as I get back on track it generally seems to work.
